A Brief History of Limestone Park
Limestone Park in Buchanan, Virginia, was originally a privately owned park by an individual named Cliff Wells. Mr. Wells had been searching around, trying to determine who would carry on the park and keep it up to the standards he felt were important for the community to have a family gathering place for recreation and fun. During the course of his search, he began researching the history of Mill Creek Baptist Church and speaking with the Associate Pastor at the time, Marsha Davidson.
Mr. Wells told Marsha of his commitment to the park in keeping it in good working condition and keeping the grounds kept up. The park has tennis courts, a covered pavilion, a very large swimming pool, a baseball field and basketball shooting areas along with a concession stand. After completing his research, he determined that Mill Creek was the successor he would entrust with Limestone Park to carry on for the purpose of serving the community and offering wholesome family fun! Mill Creek Baptist was thrilled and eager to be able to serve and offer the activities of Limestone Park, as a Ministry outreach program.
Unfortunately, the year following the transfer of ownership to Mill Creek Baptist Church, Mr. Cliff Wells was killed in a tragic airplane crash. Mill Creek has carried on in accordance with his wishes and offers many events and programs for the community. Some of the activities are: Pool memberships and swim team meets, use of the ball fields, tennis courts & Pavilion. Limestone also serves the community during Mill Creek BBQs, Yard Sales, Easter Sunrise Services, Sports Camps, & Family Camp-Outs and so much more. If you would like to have a membership at the pool, click on the form above.
Limestone Park has been a blessing to the church and the community and will continue for many years to come!
